Nelson Blanchard

Nelson Blanchard was born on January 13, 1953. At the tender age of 10, he was already a performer in clubs with The Richard Brothers, a popular local group from the Pierre Part, LA area (Nelson's birthplace). He studied music throughout elementary and high school, playing in special state and district bands (including the Governor's Honor Band). He studied music education at LSU and Nicholls State University.

 

Nelson has performed with various groups throughout his 35-year career, as well as with soloists including the likes of Percy Sledge, Ernie K-Doe, Irma Thomas,Kenny Neal, and Tareva Henderson.

 

He now owns Techno Sound Recording Studio - a 24-track facility - in Baton Rouge, where he has worked with many artists, including Kyper (for whose Atlantic Records LP, Tic Tac Toe, he was awarded a Gold record), Head East, Elizabeth Ashley,Civello (BMG), former Louisiana Governor Jimmie Davis, the Serendipity Singers,John Fred and the Playboys, Wayne Toups, and many others.
